Welcome To 2022
Welcome To 2022
Happy New year my dear friends. A bit belated perhaps but no less heartfelt for it, I swear.
I hope the preceding days treated you well and left you with a positive forecast for the year to come, and if they did not, fret not for we have three-hundred-and-sixty-something days to make things better.
Here in the northern hemisphere the days are growing brighter and colder giving us reason to look ahead and bundle up. It is these days that reminds me of a, I think Norwegian, phrase. “The Sun has teeth.” For those days that look lovely but that you would never wish to be out in.
A lot of sun teeth in my future, I hope that you can evade them in yours.
Heh, sun-teeth, the Sun really is some sort of eldritch horror isn’t it.
These days also remind me of a conversation I had with a child. They lamented at many days it would be until their vacation and I pointed out that it was because of their perspective. “You look at the number and see that it is so large, but you miss that everyday it gets smaller. Think of it as count down and everyday you get closer to vacation.”
It’s easy, especially at the start of the year to look forward and see the coming 365 as an insurmountable mountain to climb. But it’s not. It’s a series of steps that you take each day, and each day you push one behind you drawing you closer to your reward. Whether that is the 5 days to the weekend, the hundred-and-two days till your marriage or the sixty-six days until you quit the terrible job.
Sometimes perspective can give us strength we never knew we had.
The times behind us have been difficult, and the times ahead do not look easy but if you are reading this it means you’ve already succeeded against the horrors of your past and I may be a bit biased but your track record indicates you’ll overcome the ones of the future too.
As for me, I got some scary stuff ahead of me so wish me luck, I really think you’ll like what comes next.
Until next time my dear readers. Thank you and God bless;
