Told You I Needed A Chainsaw
Told You I Needed A Chainsaw
For those who do not see the picture and/or do not remember the previous post about said chainsaw, let me explain. The picture is a tree that came down blocking the only entry way in or out of my complexes’ parking lot. Earlier this summer I made a post staying “get yourself a chainsaw” to deal with downed trees and the like because it was(is) hurricane season.
Now I didn’t use a chainsaw … I used a hatchet. Partly because I like using the hatchet, partly ‘cause I was lazy.
But I think the lesson holds, be prepared for inclement weather to deal with the problems that arise as a result.
The OTHER lesson is one of community. For while I was out there chopping up soaking wet wood one of my neighbors heard the noise and called the super who then arrived with their own tools to help.
The person that saw me could have left me out there to deal with it, not bothering with the issue until it was their problem specifically, but they didn’t. They saw it was a problem that would impact everyone, saw a person(me) working at it and did he only thing they could do to help. They called for assistance.
It’s not a big thing, you can even argue it’s a small thing. However it was the kind thing. And even if they are small things do the kind thing is right. It’s right and it breeds more good through its existence. So I am very grateful to the phone call and to the super arriving so swiftly to do their job. They are both small things, but things that made a large positive difference to me.
I suppose that is the last lesson then. What may be a small act of kindness to you may be a large positive force for another; so why not do it?
Take care my dear readers and God bless;
