Happy Everything!
Happy Everything!
If you are getting this the day it goes out you are getting it December 26th, the day after Christmas. If you come across this later the message is the same if a bit dated.
During December in the northern hemisphere the night grows longer and the days grow colder. People, our ancestors, survived through luck and the accumulated hard work of the previous months. In such dark and difficult times they had little to do but endure the darkness and pray for a short winter and a bountiful spring.
It is no wonder then that there are so many celebrations this time of year to fill us with warmth and remind us of the good days past and the better days to come.
However that need not be a thing we reserve for the year’s end. We always work hard for the future, we always suffer through dark times and we always pray that the future will be bountiful. So we can always celebrate the good times of the past, our hopes for the future and the wonder brought by loving family and friends.
Yes, it is the second day of Christmas but there is no reason we can’t live everyday like the second day of Christmas. I don’t mean giving presents or going on vacations, of course. I mean with love, family and charrity. These things, these virtues need not be relegated to a few weeks out of the year and I for one think that if we can carry these things all year long the world will be a far better place.
If you find yourself full of good will love and cheer I ask that you hold onto that feeling and in the dark days that you will inevitably face in the coming year you look back to this moment and pull that feeling forward to direct you.
If you do not find yourself in a place of good cheer and love I am truly sorry. Being unhappy at Christmas feels like a personal attack and know that I, at least, wish only the best for you and hope that whatever ails you passes swiftly and you soon find yourself in the company of those who love and understand you.
Thank you for your indulgence my dear readers, happy holidays and God bless;
