Go Vote!
Go Vote!
That’s it, I usually burry the lead a little and lead you to where I’m going but I felt just saying outright was the best way to open this blog
Now let’s get into it.
The day this blog is written is the day before the U.S. Midterm elections in 2022 so I will understand if you find this a bit dated or irrelevant if you come across this later or live outside the U.S. but I ask you to bear with me.
It is often said that voting is “the least effective form of civic engagement”, that the least gets done at the ballot box.
And this may be so.
However I also believe it is the most foundational form of civic engagement as well. It is where mass groups of people unit in a civil manor to speak to their government and make known what they desire. From the unity, that coalition springs forth everything else. Not just legislation, representatives, judges and all the machinery of government but the machinery of change.
In speaking together we issue notice to our government and ourselves about what we most want. We learn who stands with us in these desires and can build the collectives that will take up the cause and create the change we need when voting doesn’t go far enough. We warn those who would strip us of freedom, and liberty just how many of us cherish those things and understand how valuable they are.
Voting is the bedrock of change and you must lay a strong foundation if you are to build anything else.
So let that be the message of today, regardless of when you come across this blog. Lay the foundation.
Thank you my dear readers and God bless;
