Happy Equinox my dear readers. Happy a lot of things. As of the time of this posting it is officially spring. At least in the Northern hemisphere.

For the three of you who follow this blog in the southern hemisphere it is officially autumn and I wish you good tidings and cheer just the same.

Not the direction I intended to take this bog but I’ll roll with it because it’s on brand.

It is also Nowruz what may be called “Persian New Year.” A celebration I have only just learned about but do not find surprising at all. All around the world different cultures, peoples and religions find great meaning in this day whether it is the renewal of spring or the coming harvest of autumn.

Nowruz has many traditions, the favorite of the ones I’ve just learned about is jumping over a bonfire to burn away the sin and challenges of the past.

I am not suggesting you play with fire today.

I am suggesting, however that you take a moment to avail yourself of some of the traditions beyond your own culture. This understanding of others is simply nourishing for the soul and you may find something that speaks to you in a way you had not expected to fold into your own life. We enrich ourselves and each other when we learn about those different than us.

Also I suggest you consider what renewal means for. What does growth mean for you? What does balance mean for you? All these things, and many more hang on this day with the purpose of creating a moment of self reflection and personal growth.

Reflection, renewal, growth. Simple things that I think we all need a little more of, I know I certainly do.
