Eternal Vigilance Is The Price Of Peace
One of my favorite fictional characters, not one of my own, has the moto. “Eternal vigilance is the price of peace.”
And in these times with, in the United States of America, an election looming these words resent with me.
I don’t go into politics here, not really but in this I feel compelled.
Most see such a moto and they think of guns, warriors, and training for combat. And all these things ARE necessary. Morality requires strength and conviction.
However that’s the last line, the final requirement. Vigilance on the national scale isn’t just being ready to throw a punch. It means being ready to cast a ballot. It means holding your elected officials accountable. It means paying attention to the horrors round you, the information you need and using it to make the right decisions.
Your society, no matter where you are, needs you to be vigilant. It needs you to look around, pay attention and take action for the benefit of yourself and others. If you don’t know how people are stealing from you, then you can’t stop them from taking that which maters most for you.
So be vigilant. arm yourself in mind and body, and in doing so you create a world of peace where those arms are never needed. And yes, if you’re in The U.S.A., go vote.
Take care my dear readers, and God bless.
