Drink More Water
Drink More Water
This is actually a running gag between a friend and I who is constantly neglecting hydration.
It’s also something I ran afoul of over the weekend.
Summer is around the corner and we’re set for record highs(again). Several friends and I were out doping quite a bit of laborious work and I underestimated the exhaustion of the work or else over estimated my water intake.
Probably a bit of both.
I’ll spare you the details save to say heat stroke and over-work are -not- a fun combo.
The point, is, I did not take a careful and honest assessment of what I was capable of and what I would need. Some of this was that I hadn’t worked this hard in months (thanks COVID) and part is me getting old but those are excuses. I messed up and my body was happy to tell me I did.
I share because I imagine many of us will soon be in similar scenarios. Doing things once again we had not done in moths. Going out into greater perhaps oppressive heat. Needing to honestly asses where we are from where we were,
However as is often the case it’s the simple things, the small habits that are our greatest defense against such troubles. Stay hydrated, rest regularly, sleep properly, eat balanced meals, pace yourself. The small things you do all the time add up to massive changes.
Don’t skip the small stuff because it’s the small stuff. Do the small stuff because it is secretly the really big stuff.
I’m getting rambly so I’ll leave off here. I hope my brief moment of misfortune helps you avoid your own.
Thank you and God bless;
