Breathe
You ever realize you have a nervous tic?
I have a couple, though I, thankfully, don’t suffer from them often. I find them irritating, but they are also informative.
Obviously they let me know when I’m nervous, when Life has me twisted in knots and most importantly they remind me to breathe.
To take a moment for myself, be it sunning in a park, or killing bad-guys in a video game, wandering through my music library or ready an old comic.
It reminds me that my own mental health and stability is important and that whatever stresses assail me are putting it in jeopardy.
Thankfully, usually, my issues can be managed simply, often perspective helps me release the stress, otherwise choosing an action in my direct control and dealing with that.
Cleaning my room, writing a thousand words, calling my dad and telling him I love him.
There is far more in our control than we realize, and often we take blame for far more than we can do anything about.
This is not to say reasons for anxiety aren’t genuine. Tragedy strikes us all. However any moment you can take for yourself, to center your mind and relax the heart is worth ten moments you do not. Whatever tragedies assail you, you will always be able to weather them better if you can do so calmly.
So, breathe.
As I oft say to my friends. Self care is best care. So I say it to you as well. Take a moment, unclench your jaw, relax your shoulders, and just breathe.
Take care my dear readers.
